Holy Hunk, Superman!

Entertainment Weekly’s current issue is featuring our latest American superhero to don the rimmed glasses and master changes quicker than Miss Campbell during Fashion Week. “Tudors” actor Henry Cavill, unknown to most recently has been coveting numerous reports on his Superman casting in the Zack Synder directed reboot. Many of you can recall the box-office let down the last film had, with an equally handsome Brandon Routh and star names attached such as Oscar winner Kevin Spacey. “Inception” director Christopher Nolan is producing the much-anticipated flick, which all of us can predict to be closer to ‘Iron Man’ and upcoming ‘Captain America’ rather than the last film or ‘Spiderman’. It’s clear everyone is trying to follow Nolan’s foot steps and attempt to make something in the ‘Dark Knight’ vein.

The full article includes Cavill discussing his nerves through the screen testing process and his personal doubts on having enough gusto to fill the tights:  ”All I could think was: Oh, god. They’re going to look at me and go ‘He’s not Superman. Not a chance.’ The actor inside me was going: You’re not ready! You’re not ready!”

Snyder clearly disagreed in his casting process, saying how other well-known confident actors couldn’t fill the shoes as he did. Unlike the others, Cavill ”exuded this kind of crazy-calm confidence that just made me go ‘Wow.’ Okay: This was Superman.”

I guess we’ll have to wait till 2012 to get a sense if Cavill’s performance will soar and take the franchise back to Christopher Reeve’s success…

Take Me or Leave Me - Lea Michele & Amber Riley (Glee Cast)

Your first listen for next week’s Glee. Lea and Amber are KILLING IT! I was a bit wary but who knows, maybe this will be incorporated in some twisted lesbian fantasy…but I doubt it. I’m sure it’s another duet based class assignment, but who knows…maybe Glee will go down a darker side by the end of the season or next. My only thing I really want from Ryan Murphy is consistency, is that asking for too much?

Hello Manhattanites,

J.Bender here giving you the details on a leaked demo from one of the Upper Side “elite.” Miss Leighton Meester, known as Blair Waldorf to most, “Single White Female” to others and pop star to nearly none, has had a recent leak on her hands titled “Front Cut” which features rapper Clinton Sparks. It’s catchy in the vein of Ke$ha but ultimately won’t be featured on her TBD album release. Will this “album” EVER be finished? Having been buckling down on her film career, chances are this will be back-burned to the point of no return. In 2009, she appeared on Cobra Starship’s “Good Girls Go Bad,” then she recorded with smokey-voice sensation Robin Thicke on the song “Somebody to Love,” to then deliver to her gays with “Your Love’s A Drug.” Be sure to tune in to Gossip Girl next Monday, kids…that is, if it’s still relevant.

Xoxo,

Born This Gay: Lady Gaga Dominates American ‘Vogue’

“Sometimes, being onstage is like having sex with my fans,” the reigning pop-art queen Stefani Germanotta, more commonly known as Lady Gaga, states. With no signs of slowing down and on the heels of a new major record, Born This Way, Gaga fans can rejoice over latest spread in Vogue magazine. Apparently having written the title track in ten minutes she’s pressed that it will be a song of our time - an anthem for gay teens who struggle with their confidence. Her lyrics have been critically compared to the 1975’s Motown hit “I Was Born This Way,” and Gaga herself does compare the tracks. With having Elton John backing you up in his more recent interviews, it’s said to be another massive hit she has on her hands. Left you outcast, bullied, or teased rejoice and love yourself today/ ‘Cause baby you were born this way, No matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgendered life/ I’m on the right track baby, I was born to survive.” Her second single has been confirmed to be “Judas,” a heart-pumping beat track that is “about falling in love with backstabbing men of the biblical variety.” An anthem followed by a dance-heavy breakup song? She definitely knows her audience.

Never the most modest of performers (possibly because of her theater background), she tells her interviewer,“Speaking purely from a musical standpoint, I think I am a great performer. I am a talented entertainer. I consider myself to have one of the greatest voices in the industry. I consider myself to be one of the greatest songwriters. I wouldn’t say that I am one of the greatest dancers, but I am really quite good at what I do.” For someone who has only been around the mainstream scene for three years, those words are a bit heavy and could possibly land her with some criticism. Confidence? Completely sexy. Arrogance, on the other hand, lands you into a ‘Glitter’fied world of Mariah Carey stardom. Keep doing what you do best, but never forget where you came from dear Gaga.

Be sure to tune into her first live performance of her sure-to-be number one hit, “Born This Way”, on the Grammy Award’s on CBS

It looks cool but we still need to hear the actual song…The lyrics aren’t sitting well with me, personally. Apparently the song is being released on Friday though!

In an official leak from the Queen of Pop herself, Britney Spears has released her upcoming album cover & title Femme Fatale. Stating “This album is for you, my fans, who have always supported me and have stuck by me every step of the way!  I love you all!” her fans are hoping for this to be as club-centered as her fifth studio album Blackout. The release date has been rumored to be March 15, but Miss Spears herself only tweet-confirmed for March. Until then, we’ll have to salivate over this gorgeous disco-queen cover.

Rihanna’s S&M Music Video

Rihanna recently released the music video for her new single S&M, and there is much controversy over it being a little too racy.

My gripe with the video though, is that it’s racy in all of the wrong ways.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the song, and until I recently heard Jessie J’s “Do It Like A Dude” it was number one on my list of Songs to Get Busy to in 2011. But now the video kinda ruined it for me because what I was picturing in my head was so different (and better).

I wanted: black, leather, whips, chains, very dark, very sexy, crimson red, dark makeup, amazing dancing, hot guys, hot girls, and just an all around SEXY video. What I got was white rubber, bubblegum pink, clown-like hair, Perez Hilton, news headlines, and a style mocking the Spice Girls “Who Do You Think You Are” music video.

If you don’t believe me:

Overall, I think the production quality is good, but I just expected a little more from this one. Though, I think we can ALL agree that her ass looks PHENOMENAL in that white rubber suit! I mean come on! I thought the video was in 3D for a second.

Jessie J performs at Vevo “Lift” show. Live at Don Hill’s in NYC

I had the privilege last night of being invited by Tommy to the Jessie J performance.

Tommy introduced me to this little English girl’s music a few weeks back, and I thought “Wow! She’s pretty great!”  But I was SOOOO wrong…  SHE’S AMAZING

Vevo, is promoting Jessie J via their new program “Lift”, which is showcasing up and coming artists. And damn, they picked the perfect performer to start with.

I would compare her to a combination of an early Gaga, mixed with recent Robyn, with English style, and a voice that could knock you out!

Don’t take my word for it though, watch our video of her live performance, and then check out her Vevo page, to get to know her a bit better.

I love the idea that she is a music writer too! She wrote “Party In The USA” for Miley, and her song “Do It Like A Dude” was originally written for Rihanna. (But I’m glad she kept it for herself, because she’s much more talented)

Mark my words…JESSIE J… THE NEXT BIG THING!

-Stevie
